Dr. Leavitt’s clinical interests include creating collaborative relationships with patients, evidence-based use of complementary therapies and stress reduction techniques, and treatment of under-served populations.

Education and Training

David Leavitt, MD is a board certified psychiatrist. He earned his medical degree at the University of Vermont College of Medicine in Burlington and went on to complete his psychiatry residency in 2007 at the University of Arizona College of Medicine in Tucson. He is also a graduate of the University of Arizona Center For Integrative Medicine’s two-year fellowship program. Dr. Leavitt has practiced inpatient psychiatry since residency, most recently at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor, Michigan for nearly 10 years. He has provided outpatient treatment in private practice and hospital settings. He currently serves as a core faculty member for the psychiatry residency program at St. Mary Mercy Hospital in Livonia Michigan, where he has been teaching and supervising residents in their outpatient clinic for eight years.
